Garbage disposal repair & replacement

Try this first if it hums or won't turn on

1. Turn the switch off, and unplug the unit if it plugs in under the sink.
2. Press the red reset button on the bottom of the disposal.
3. If it hums but won't spin, put the hex key (the small wrench that came with it) into the socket in the center of the bottom and work it back and forth to free the jam.
4. Look inside with a flashlight. Remove anything you see with pliers or tongs, never your hand.

What not to put down it

• Grease and cooking oil
• Stringy food like celery, corn husks and onion skins
• Potato peels, pasta and rice
• Coffee grounds
• Bones and fruit pits
